Duct Man
Going Green

We, at Duct Man, think every individual and organization has a responsibility to the environment. Its not always easy, but we are trying to find solid ways to fulfill that duty as best we can. Not only because we feel its right but also to attract the kind of people we want to do business with: namely, those who wish to participate in and support a healthier, more sustainable community. Here are some of the ways in which we are trying to do our part:

Increasing Energy Efficiency
By cleaning dryer and vents you not only eliminate a potential fire hazard, you seriously increase the the energy efficiency of the dryer. Oftentimes, customers tell us that laundry loads which once took 2 or 3 cycles to dry now only take 1 after our service. The fact that dryer and vent cleaning is a very real and direct way of reducing energy consumption was a major factor in Jimmy choosing to specialize in this business.

Alternative Fuels
It's a company-wide policy that all Duct Man vehicles run on biodiesel or ethanol whenever those fuels are available and in the highest percentage offered. Sometimes this costs a bit more and we are glad to pay what amounts to a minor difference in order to reduce our greenhouse and toxic gas emissions. Sadly, biofuels are still far from being available everywhere and we are petitioning distributors in an attempt to attract their business to our community.

Local is Better
We concentrate primarily on growing our customer base within, or very close to, our local community. This not only helps stimulate the local economy but also mitigates fuel usage.

Duct Recycling
Duct Man recycles all old ducting removed from job sites. Over the course of a year, we collect hundreds of pounds of metal that would otherwise contribute to the already dismal landfill system.

Organic Farming
OK, maybe this doesn't have much to do with our business. But Jimmy started a little organic farm (a.k.a. big garden) on his property and we plan to double it in size this season. We're just learning now but hope to eventually open a sizable community farm.
